Official Ceremony of Newly Appointed Honorary Consuls
The government of The Republic of Korea on Friday appointed businessman Afan Aziz as honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in Peshawar.
The announcement was made by Korean Ambassador Choong Joo Choi at a reception in Islamabad. The Korean government also appointed Shama Parveen Magsi as honorary Consul in Quetta.
Afan Aziz, who is CEO of Aziz group of industries, is a graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE), and has remained as chairman APTMA (all Pakistan Textile Mills Association) KPK Zone, and also as President of KPCCI (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. After his appointment as honorary Consul in Peshawar, Afan Aziz said he would enhance the friendship between of the people of Korea and militancy-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in the fields of economic, educational, commercial and cultural cooperation. Ms Shama Parveen Magsi is currently Minister for Information Technology with additional portfolio of Law and Parliamentary Affairs in Balochistan. She spoke of Of The Republic of Korea n assistance for the people of her province as she referred to the offer of 300 mw power plant for Balochistan. Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is honorary consul of Of The Republic of Korea in Lahore for a number of years.
Ambassador of Republic of Korea Choong-joo Choi conferred the documents upon the two in an impressive gathering here in the federal capital the other day. The Ambassador said that the appointment of the honorary consuls would strengthen diplomatic ties between the governments of Korea and Pakistan. The gathering was attended by Senator Mushahid Hussain, Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Senator Saifullah Maqsi, federal secretaries Mr. Imtiaz innayat Elahi, Mr. Chaudhary Qamar Zaman, and other senior Pakistani and Korean business delegates.
